Early Career

Born in Edappal, Kerala, Devdutt Padikkal is a left-handed batting sensation with an imposing 6’3″ frame. His family moved to Hyderabad during his childhood before finally settling in Bangalore, where he pursued his cricketing dreams. Introduced to the sport at the age of 11, Devdutt quickly rose through the ranks of school and age-group cricket. His breakthrough moment came in the 2017 Karnataka Premier League , where he smashed a breathtaking 72 off 53 balls for Ballari Tuskers. Despite facing a slump in form that tested his resolve, Devdutt’s relentless hard work saw him pile on 829 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2018 , finishing as the fourth-highest run-scorer. This resurgence earned him the Best Batsman Award from the Karnataka State Cricket Association and a spot in the senior team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Domestic Dominance

Devdutt’s domestic career has been nothing short of stellar. In the 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy , he announced himself as a force to be reckoned with by scoring 609 runs , including two centuries and three fifties, to finish as the tournament’s leading run-scorer . His consistency earned him a place in the India U-19 squad for the Sri Lanka tour and a call-up to the Deodhar Trophy (India A). In IPL 2020 , he became the first batter in IPL history to score three fifties in his first four matches , finishing the season with 473 runs and winning the Emerging Player of the Year Award . The following season, he hit his maiden IPL century (101 ) * against Rajasthan Royals, steering RCB to a dominant 10-wicket victory. Across two seasons, he amassed over 800 runs , solidifying his reputation as a match-winner. Then in 2025 IPL Season again back in RCB Squad.
  • Rajasthan Royals (2022–2023): Despite being bought for a whopping ₹7.75 crore , Devdutt struggled to replicate his earlier form, averaging just 24.11 in 28 matches. However, his ability to adapt and learn kept him in contention.
  • Lucknow Super Giants (2024): Traded to LSG in 2024, Devdutt endured a challenging season, averaging a modest 5.43 . Yet, his resilience and determination remain hallmarks of his career.
