In the 18th season of the IPL, No. 18 Virat Kohli finally got his due reward as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy for the first time in history. RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final by six runs to win their maiden title, ending a drought of 17 years.
Krunal Pandya made the difference for RCB with a stunning spell of 2-17 in four overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also took two wickets. Shashank Singh’s 31-ball 60 went in vain.
Kohli was the top-scorer (43 of 35) despite playing a scratchy knock as RCB posted 190 on the board. Phil Salt (16 of 9) threatened to give Bengaluru a quick start but was dismissed in the second over while Mayank Agarwal (24 of 18) and Rajat Patidar (26 of 16) failed to make the most of good starts. Liam Livingstone (25 of 15) and Jitesh Sharma (24 of 10) played quick-fire cameos. PBKS bowlers put up an impressive performance with Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh as the stars of the show with three wickets each. Yuzvendra Chahal, Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vyshak took one wicket each.
